… and often glorious, if you’ve seen some of the classic images assembled at RailroadHeritage.org. They’ve posted one of my own images there, a view that splits the Union Pacific line on the left and LA County’s Metro line on the right… with a lone figure isolated in the distance between them. When I first saw this it seemed like a powerful comment on the sense of isolation we can feel inside the vast product of our industrialization (which has completely subjugated the Los Angeles River). Kudos to Scott Lothes and the others at Railroad Heritage, who do a fantastic job of keeping “track” of this important part of our national heritage.
